Tour Overview:  Ancient glory meets the dynamism of modern China in this exciting Beijing to Shanghai itinerary. You’ll visit the highlights of history including the Great Wall and Forbidden Palace followed by the amazing Terra Cotta Warriors and finally Shanghai and the entrancing “Venice of the East,” Suzhou.


Itinerary:


Day 1 - Arrive Beijing
  Arrive in Beijing the capital of the People’s Republic of China. You are welcomed at the airport and escorted to the hotel.

Day 2 - Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & Hutong Tour
  Start your tour this morning with a visit to Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world and the Forbidden City, the 250- acre palace containing more than 9,000 rooms. Closed to the common people for centuries, it was only opened to the public in 1949. Later enjoy Beijing’s hutongs tour by Rickshaws including a visit to a local home. The hutongs, or ancient city alleys were built as part of a city building plan that followed the etiquette systems of the Zhou dynasty, which had specific protocols regarding how residential areas should be set up. Day 3 - Great Wall Excursion & Summer Palace
  Visit the Great wall, stopping en route at the Bird’s Nest & Water Cube for a picture stop. The Great Wall, built 2,300 years ago and extending 3,750 miles, can be seen from space! Afternoon explore the Summer Palace, the retreat of China’s royal families for over 2,000 years. Tonight enjoy Peking Opera and a traditional Peking Duck dinner. (BLD)

Day 4 – Temple of Heaven & Lama Temple / Xian
  In the morning visit the Temple of Heaven, possibly the country’s most popular symbol and the Lama Temple, considered as the largest and most perfectly preserved lamasery in present day China. Later fly to Xian, once the largest city in the world. Xian was the national capital for eleven Chinese dynasties and a major link between Asia and Europe. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. (BL)

Day 5 - Terra Cotta Warriors
  Xian captured the interest of the world in 1974 with the discovery of the astonishing third-century BC burial sites of the first emperor to unite China, Qin Shi Huangdi. Visit the archaeological site to see thousands of Terra Cotta Warriors, which have been standing guard over the Imperial Tomb for 2,000 years and the the ceramics & pottery workshop. Enjoy a Noodle making demonstration followed by lunch. Afternoon, visit the ancient Shaanxi provincial Museum. In the evening, enjoy dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty Show. (BLD)

Day 6 - Xian / Shanghai
  Morning visit the Big Wide Goose Pagoda Temple and the Ancient City Wall. Afternoon fly to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. (BL)

Day 7 - Shanghai Sightseeing
  Your morning tour of Shanghai includes a visit to Yuyuan Garden and the Old town. Afternoon visit the Shanghai Museum and the Bund, a wide, tree-lined avenue along the Huangpu River and Tianzifang Artist area, famous for small craft stores, coffee shops, trendy art studios and narrow alleys. Evening enjoy a performance by the famous Chinese acrobats. (BD)

Day 8 – Suzhou Sightseeing
  Enjoy your visit to Suzhou today by high speed train. Suzhou, often called the “Venice of the East” for its network of waterways and canals crossed by 300 graceful bridges dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Visit the Garden of Master of Nets and the Silk Spinning factory. Ride on the Grand Canal, China’s ancient commercial waterway. Later return to Shanghai. (BL)

Day 9 - Shanghai
  Day at leisure to relax and pursue independent activities. (B)

Day 10 - Shanghai / Home

Day 8 - Yangshuo
  Morning enjoy bamboo rafting along the Yulong River, a tributary of Li River. Visit the local villages and farms. Following lunch, afternoon will be at leisure to relax and pursue independent activities. Evening attend the amazing Liu San Jie Impression show, featuring the local Zhuang and Yao minorities. Impression is massive outdoor show in which the waters of Li River are used as its stage. (BL)

Day 9 - Yangshuo / Guilin / Chengdu
  Morning drive to Guilin and visit the famous Reed Flute Caves. Following lunch, fly to Chengdu, the pleasant capital of China’s Sichuan Province. Founded over 2000 years ago, Chengdu has earned the nickname “city of hibiscus”–from the fragrant bushes planted along the city walls. Upon arrival, met and transferred to your hotel. (BL)

Day 10 - Chengdu Sightseeing
  Morning visit the world-renowned Chengdu Panda Breeding Research base. Following lunch, explore the Jinli Cultural street. Evening enjoy a Sichuan Hot Pot dinner and Sichuan Opera show. (BLD)

Day 11 – Chengdu / Hong Kong
  Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Hong Kong. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. Hong Kong is where the mystical East meets the modern West, where the potpourri of sights, smells and sounds never fails to delight the senses. (B)

Day 12 - Hong Kong Sightseeing
