Hiking in the Philippines takes you straight to some
of the country's best-kept treasures. From the windy coasts of
Batanes to the rainforests of Mindanao, more than the usual exciting
places in the archipelago are accessible on foot. Many promises
await-more thatn the usual high mountain summits, captivating
views, primitive forests, and remote tribes - all these and more

Trekking is a do-it-yourself affair, but it;s
not hard to locates guides, local mountaineering groups, and residents
of wilderness areas. You'll find friendly local guides, farmers
or hunters willing to help. Local mountaineers are the best bets
as they're experienced, highly informative and make excellent
guides. Most will accompany you for minimal fees, while some will
for nothing, save for the pleasure of it all accompanied by food,
water and transportation.
ROCK CLIMBING
It's quite amazing how the country was able to build
a name in rock climbing faster than any other, much more than
the usual feat. Now offering recreational climbs and competitions
all over the archipelago, Philippine rock climbing certainly has
all the potential to become a well-established sport, as we take

CAVING / SPELUNKING
Being an island-archipelago surrounded by endless bodies
of water, no doubt the Philippines is known more for its thousands
of islands, white sand beaches and brilliant coral reefs. Only

networks of caves liberally strewn all over the country's terrain.
Much of the country floats on limestone bedrock
easily eroded by water, which has naturally bequethed magnificent
networks of limestone caves. The best time to go caving is during
the dry season. It's also best to hire local guides when exploring
caves anywhere in the country.
MOUNTAINBIKING
Plentiful tropical trails and a wide range of terrain
make the Philippines the perfect environment for more than the
usual mountain biking and mountain-bike touring activities, Ride

Detailed maps are not very easy to come by,

on locations of the best trails and provide information on where
to obtain spares, repairs and strategic watering holes along any
routes you decide to take.

"leave you breathless" more than skydiving and ultra
light flying? These high-flying sports are fast earning their
wings and followers all over the country. Not only do you get
a long-lasting thrill, but also get to savor rare glimpses of
